KATRINA

Hurricane Katrina dealt the historic neighborhoods of New Orleans (and the people who live in them) the greatest blow in their history. As we rebuild from the storm, it is more important than ever that we remain focused on saving New Orleans, not creating something new and generic.

In the aftermath of the storm, the PRC has stepped up to help rebuild the city. We’ve expanded our staff, increased our efforts, and pressed home our message with more vigor than ever before. Rebuilding Together is racing to repair 1,000 homes, Operation Comeback has initiated a new volunteer effort to survey flooded houses, and our Home Again program pairs us with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to renovate key houses that will catalyze neighborhood redevelopment. The PRC’s role in New Orleans has never been more important.
