Buying a Renovation Project: PRC’s Buy Right Class

This two-night course focuses on how to purchase a historic home in need of renovation in New Orleans. The goal of the class is to provide a basic knowledge base to evaluate a property, determine feasibility, and provide current information about financing and insurance. This course will enable you to minimize complications and maximize your budget by learning from professionals with years of experience.

Buying a Renovation Project:
PRC’s Buy Right Class
March 7th & 14th

Each class will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. at PRC headquarters, 923 Tchoupitoulas St.

Objective: How to purchase a historic home in need of renovation in New Orleans. The goal of the class is to provide a basic knowledge base to evaluate a property and determine feasibility and scope of a project as well as provide current information about financing.

 
Night One: Pre-purchase and Historic Districts
March 7th, 5:30pm-8pm

  • How to purchase a historic home: Finding a bargain, evaluating a property for purchase, understanding an inspection report, and avoiding pricey pitfalls (60 minutes)Katie Witry, Owner/Associate Broker, Witry Collective & Kate Kancheva, Associate Broker, Witry Collective

Night Two: Financing and Insurance
March 14th  5:30pm-8pm

  • Financing your project for Success: Qualifying for a loan, securing insurance, closing timeline and costs/fees, acceptable repairs, approving funds and dispersing money (60 minutes).- Ryan Rouhana, Loan Advisor, Eustis Mortgage – formerly with Flagstar Bank
  • Understanding your title insurance commitment and preparing for closing (30 minutes)Margaret Glass, Partner, Steeg Law Firm
