Hosted by the Algiers Main Street Corporation, the Historic District Landmarks Commission will offer this free course designed to help property owners understand the HDLC application process and avoid the frustrations experienced by some applicants. Taught by HDLC Architectural Historian, Yvette Tyler, this class provides an opportunity for property owners to ask questions and learn more about how to work through the HDLC process.

Yvette Tyler is the Senior Architectural Historian of the New Orleans and Central Business District Historic District Landmarks Commission (NO & CBD HDLC). The NO & CBD HDLC regulate eighteen local historic districts as well as over 300 individual landmarks that represent the architectural and cultural heritage of New Orleans. Yvette has worked for the City of New Orleans since obtaining her Master of Preservation Studies degree from Tulane University in 2014. In her role as Senior Architectural Historian, she provides research assistance to community members regarding historic buildings and neighborhoods, as well as assists homeowners in making rehabilitation decisions about their historic properties. Yvette also conducts research and prepares reports regarding all Landmark nominations and designations heard by the NO & CBD HDLC. She currently serves on the New Orleans Endangered 9 Committee of the Louisiana Landmarks Society and meets the Secretary of the Interior’s Professional Qualification Standards in History and Architectural History. A native New Orleanian, she is passionate about preserving the built environment and cultural heritage of the City for future generations.
