Pontchartrain Park Exhibit Opening

Explore the history of the Pontchartrain Park neighborhood, which provided opportunities for homeownership to African-Americans during segregation, and played a unique role in the city’s suburban-style expansion. This exhibit showcases the stories of the families who have lived in the neighborhood since its inception and the historical context of why Pontchartrain Park’s development was significant. Made possible thanks to a grant from the Louisiana Division of Historic Preservation, the exhibit celebrates the PRC’s recent partnership with the Pontchartrain Park Neighborhood Association to nominate the community to the National Register of Historic Places.
