Mr. New Orleans’ Tour of the “Famous Vieux Carre”


Join literary historian and Professor of English at Dillard University, Dr. Nancy Dixon on a visit to the Vieux Carré of the 1920s as described by Lyle Saxon, aka Mr. New Orleans. This is a re-imagining of the tour created by Saxon in his Times-Picayune article published on February 15, 1920, which was uncovered by NOLA DNA and provides an old-new take on a familiar neighborhood. Lecture by Robert Baird

Tuesday March 13, at the PRC, Robert Baird, CEO of Historical Arts and Castings will give a lecture on the restoration of the U. S. Capitol dome.  Historical Arts and Castings was responsible for repairing and restoring many of the cast iron elements on the dome. Back by popular demand! Get a behind-the-scenes look at the history and architecture of one of New Orleans’ most recognizable Mid-Century Modern buildings, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, which was recently added to the National Register of Historic Places. Hands-On Workshop: Repair and Hang Drywall

Learn to repair and hang drywall from Green Project Director, Cat Crowell and James Racette, formerly with Rebuilding Together. This hands-on workshop will provide the skills needed for tackling small repairs including around light fixtures, outlets, and trim.
