In honor of Veterans Day, Rebuilding Together New Orleans CapacityCorps members teamed with AmeriCorps VISTA volunteers to make repairs and upgrades to an Air Force veteran’s home in Gentilly.
The assembled team of workers, which includes an Air Force veteran, focused on interior and exterior repairs in an effort to ensure the safety of the homeowner as he ages.
The RTNO CapacityCorps members have served several veterans over the past few months, and the AmeriCorps members were recognized for their service to veterans with a commemorative pin from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
Since 2005, RTNO has provided 75 veteran families with critical home repairs and will continue to assist more with dedicated partners like the Corporation for National and Community Service, The Home Depot Foundation and the City of New Orleans, RTNO director Jonathan Skvarka said.
