Rebuilding Together New Orleans sent experienced flood recovery workers to St. Amant on Saturday, August 20, to help clean out flooded homes.
Working in the Pinecrest subdivision, RTNO staff members Catherine Crowell and Mark Erickson lead a team of RTNO alumni who joined 150 volunteers from the NOLA Tree Project in a day of hard work that represented the first step toward recovery for many victims of this month’s devastating floods.
Crowell and her fellow RTNO volunteers brought tools and equipment with them and offered valuable advice for how to clean out homes correctly and quickly.
They also helped train and organize dozens of volunteers that were then able to spread out across the area to help as many residents as possible.
Janella Newsome from WWL joined the volunteers to highlight the positive impact they were having on devastated homeowners.
