The Preservation Resource Center would like to send out a thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Great Neighborhood SELLabration a smashing success.

Hundreds of participants flocked to Lake Area High School in Gentilly on the morning of September 12 for all the information and resources they could possibly need to buy a home in New Orleans.

Each attendee received a New Orleans Home Buying Handbook, printed by MPress, with a beautiful cover image by artist George Schmidt. Jeffrey Goodman created beautiful new maps included throughout the book, and Fonda Brennan contributed expert graphic design services.

Realtors Kim Thomas, Margarete Wabnig, and Katie Witry kicked things off with a snapshot of the New Orleans real estate market, and local author Stephanie Bruno signed her book, New Orleans Streets: A Walker’s Guide to Neighborhood Architecture, right after.

Ryan Scafidel of Audubon Title Insurance Agency, LLC, taught us how to buy at auction before being joined by Joe Uzee of Gulf Coast Bank and Trust to discuss 203K financing.

Mtumishi St. Julien of the Finance Authority of New Orleans and Ted Nusenow of Iberiabank discussed the Expand to Homeownership program, and the Louisiana State Preservation Office detailed Preservation Tax Credits to close out the Workshop section of the event.

The LSU AgCenter’s LaHouse Mobile Project was on full display, as were exhibits for neighborhoods across the city. Participants were also able to “ask-an-architect,” check out properties for sale across the city, and learn about the Greater New Orleans Housing Alliance and Neighborhood Housing Services.

We couldn’t have done any of this without our amazing Chairs Leslie Bouie, Morgan Clevenger, and Tommy Manzella, and our equally amazing committee members Janie Blackmon, Regina Mayeur Galjour, Tricia King, Adrienne LaBauve, Charlotte Link, Tina Mayer, Tom Orr, Cindy Schupp, Gretchen Shotwell, Miguel Soler, Kim Thomas, Cheryl Timmins, Joe Uzee, Margarete Wabnig, Josh Walther, Patty Willhite, Katie Witry, and Maria A. Zuniga-Lott.

We’d like to extend an extra special thank you to our sponsors: Townhouse, Audubon Title Insurance Agency, LLC, Tricia King / GARDNER REALTORS, Gulf Coast Bank and Trust, Iberiabank, The Witry Collective, Creole Cottage, Emery & James, LTD. Gohres Insurance, Energy Smart, Eustis Mortgage Corporation, Green Coast Realty, Latter & Blum, Inc. Keller Williams Crescent City Westbank Partner provided popcorn for the hungry attendees, and Gardner Realtors hooked us up with delicious Plum Street Snoballs!

And last but not least (since they’re the real reason we’re all here!) we can’t thank the participating neighborhood residents and associations for coming out to support our event enough: 7th Ward, Algiers Riverview, Carrollton Area, Lower Garden District, Desaix Area, Edgewood Park, Fairgrounds Triangle, Faubourg Lafayette, Faubourg St. John, Faubourg St. Roch, Filmore Gardens, Gentilly Terrace and Gardens, Hollygrove-Dixon, Historic Faubourg Treme’, Mid City, Northwest Carrollton, Oak Park, Old Algiers, and Pontchartrain Park.
