Curious about Travel with the PRC’s Three Cultures of New Orleans Tour?
Join the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans and Project Por Amor for a free informational webinar to learn more about our exclusive Three Cultures of New Orleans Tour, taking place March 16–22, 2027.
During this session, you’ll get an inside look at this one-of-a-kind journey through the architecture, food, music, history and cultural traditions of three communities that have helped shape New Orleans: Irish, Sicilian and Black Masking Indian. PRC staff and our partners at Project Por Amor will walk through the itinerary, highlight signature experiences, and answer your questions about registration, accommodations, logistics and what to expect.
This trip is timed to coincide with some of New Orleans’ most important cultural celebrations, including St. Patrick’s Day, St. Joseph’s Day and Super Sunday. Throughout the week, travelers will experience these traditions firsthand while exploring the neighborhoods, institutions, foodways and music that have shaped the city.
Highlights include a French Quarter walking tour with Russell Blanchard, a private look at treasures from the vault at The Historic New Orleans Collection, visits to St. Joseph’s Day altars, a Tremé walking tour with historian Malik Bartholomew, a private lunch and artist talk at Dooky Chase’s, a visit to the Whitney Plantation, a conversation about Black Masking Indian traditions with Dr. Kim Vaz-Deville, and the opportunity to walk with Big Chief Shaka Zulu and the Golden Feather Hunters on St. Joseph’s Night. The journey culminates with Super Sunday, when Black Masking Indian tribes take to the streets in their newest suits.
You’ll also experience some of the flavors and sounds that make New Orleans unique, from a muffuletta tasting and live Italian opera to Sicilian-Creole cuisine, live jazz, Cajun music and a living-room concert with legendary New Orleans trumpeter Leroy Jones.
For more than 50 years, PRC has worked to protect the places that make New Orleans special. This travel experience offers a rare opportunity to explore those places — and the culture surrounding them — through the eyes of preservationists, historians, musicians, artists and community leaders who know the city best.
Space on the tour is limited, and registration is now open. Join us to learn more about this immersive New Orleans experience and discover what makes the Three Cultures of New Orleans Tour so special.
All PRC travel programs are presented in proud partnership with Project Por Amor, a member of Sustainable Travel International, supporting cultural exchange and sustainable travel worldwide.
