October 17 at 10:00am 12:00pm

If you’ve been wanting to try restoring your own historic windows but aren’t sure where to start, this interactive workshop is designed for you. Working alongside the experts from NOLA Wood Windows, you’ll learn the fundamentals of traditional window glazing, including how to cut glass safely, test for proper fit, back-bed and set glass, and glaze a sash using traditional glazing putty. You’ll also have the opportunity to try different glazing knives and techniques while receiving individualized instruction in a small-group setting. Whether you’re tackling storm-season repairs or beginning your first window restoration project, this workshop will give you the confidence to take the next step.

Participants are encouraged to bring a window sash from home to work on during the class, though practice materials will also be available. The workshop includes putty, whiting, glazing tools to try, and free off-cut glass for practice. Additional glass will be available for purchase if you’d like to glaze your own sash.

Please note: This class is designed for owners of historic houses to learn skills they can use to maintain their homes. Preservation professionals, please see the NOLA Wood Windows website for upcoming offerings.

Historic Core Scholarships

We believe preservation education should be accessible to everyone. For all of the PRC’s fee-based programs, we reserve a portion of seats for Historic Core Scholarships, providing free registration for community members who are stewards of historic structures (built prior to 1976) and who otherwise might not be able to participate.

Paid registration fees support the Preservation Resource Center’s educational programs and help us keep them accessible to our community.

Need a Historic Core Scholarship? Select the scholarship option when registering. No explanation or documentation is required.
