October 17 at 10:00am — 12:00pm
If you’ve been wanting to try restoring your own historic windows but aren’t sure where to start, this interactive workshop is designed for you. Working alongside the experts from NOLA Wood Windows, you’ll learn the fundamentals of traditional window glazing, including how to cut glass safely, test for proper fit, back-bed and set glass, and glaze a sash using traditional glazing putty. You’ll also have the opportunity to try different glazing knives and techniques while receiving individualized instruction in a small-group setting. Whether you’re tackling storm-season repairs or beginning your first window restoration project, this workshop will give you the confidence to take the next step.
Participants are encouraged to bring a window sash from home to work on during the class, though practice materials will also be available. The workshop includes putty, whiting, glazing tools to try, and free off-cut glass for practice. Additional glass will be available for purchase if you’d like to glaze your own sash.
