Danielle Del Sol, who has led the Preservation Resource Center for the last seven years and compiled an impressive record of growth for the organization and its programs, will leave the nonprofit in July to take on a similar role in Florida.
The PRC’s board of directors is working to name a new executive director.
“We can’t thank Danielle enough for everything she’s done for the PRC and preservation in New Orleans,” said Hartley M. Crunk, president of the PRC’s Board of Directors. “We’ve seen a lot of growth under her leadership — most recently with Save Our Cemeteries becoming a department within the PRC — and we’ll work hard to keep that momentum going.”
Del Sol joined the PRC in 2011 as managing editor of Preservation in Print, eventually being named executive director in 2018. Her last day at the PRC is July 11. She will become the president and CEO or the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach.
“It has been the privilege of a lifetime to lead the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans and to help protect the truly unique buildings and neighborhoods of this storied place,” Del Sol said.
During her time leading the PRC, Del Sol became a nationally respected voice on historic preservation and holds seats on the boards of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the National Preservation Partners Network and Preservation Action.
She founded the PRC’s Revival Grants program, which is designed to help low- to moderate-income homeowners preserve the historic architecture and culture of the city’s oldest neighborhoods. She also led the restoration of Perseverance Hall, a city-owned building in Armstrong Park that had been vacant for three decades.
Additionally, Del Sol co-authored “Building on the Past: Saving Historic New Orleans” and “Painting the Town: The Importance of Color in Historic New Orleans Architecture.”
“My preservation colleagues at the PRC and around the state are my family,” Del Sol said. “I will miss you.”
