At the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans, we know that historic preservation can transform disinvested areas into desirable neighborhoods. Building renewal supports thousands of place-based jobs while turning vacant, blighted structures into safe homes and thriving businesses. Preserving stories and traditions can be just as powerful: Culture is the cornerstone of New Orleans.

Preservation doesn’t happen by accident. Often it requires public-private partnerships, such as the successful state and federal historic rehabilitation tax credit programs. Local land-use and zoning laws are just as important, helping preserve the value of investments made in our historic districts and protect the quality of life for residents.

Through our advocacy programs, PRC helps to pass legislation favorable to historic preservation, including investments in public historic buildings and grant programs. We watchdog public agencies to prevent the unnecessary loss of historic and cultural resources. You can follow our efforts at the local, state and federal levels in Preservation in Print magazine. You can get involved, too. Be sure to sign up for emails from PRC and follow us on social media to be notified when we need you to speak up for the power of preservation.
