This summer, the Preservation Resource Center is delighted to welcome four rising high school seniors through its internship program. The paid internships are in partnership with KIDsmART and YouthForce NOLA, which connect young people with meaningful work experiences and professional training.
Carter Hills, a student at Math & Science New Orleans Charter School, and Jasmine Love, a student at the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA), are participating through KIDsmART’s Bloomberg Arts Internship Program. The eight-week summer experience introduces young people to creative careers and builds professional skills.
Elyssa Elders, a student at Morris Jeff Community School, and Joshua Bridges, a student at Rooted School, are PRC’s 2026 YouthForce NOLA interns. In preparation, they completed 50 hours of workplace-readiness training, strengthening career-readiness skills.
At PRC, the interns have conducted research for the Save Our Cemeteries department, developing educational content about significant individuals buried in New Orleans’ historic cemeteries. Their work will be used on PRC’s website, social media channels and tours.
The experience has introduced the students to a range of preservation and communications skills, including reading historic newspapers and maps; writing narrative histories ; documenting historic places; developing tours and presentations; and creating social media content.
The students also have visited historic sites, cemeteries, and archives.
