About the Program
The Education and Outreach program promotes the preservation and revitalization of historic New Orleans architecture and neighborhoods to all ages and all communities through educational programs on buying, renovating and maintaining historic buildings and celebrating New Orleans culture and history.
The PRC encourages investment in neighborhoods across the city by providing information and resources to prospective homebuyers and renovators. These programs include Beams & Brews tours; the Buy Right, Renovate Right and Maintain Right class series and other work with local neighborhood associations.
The PRC’s popular Historic House Specialist program provides detailed information about the historic house types, architectural styles and neighborhoods of New Orleans, as well as best practices in historic renovation, rehabilitation tax incentives and historic house research. This program also provides continuing-education credits for Realtors from the LA Real Estate Commission, as well as credit towards certification as a PRC-approved Historic House Specialist.
The Preservation Resource Center also partners with the Historic District Landmarks Commission to offer a free course designed to help property owners understand the HDLC application process and avoid the common frustrations and pitfalls experienced by some applicants.
